Our kids today have grown to and hence accustomed to the pampering advanced technology that the ideas of taking wilderness survival course seems absurd. What happen when a mere power outage occurs suddenly the moment they are having a ball at their video game during the night?

The thing that they are mostly afraid of is the complete darkness momentarily. Though after a while and once they are getting used to the darkness of power outage, they would somehow rather calm down.

In fact on our recent Bandung Travel this is exactly what happened; we are staying at a small but cozy Guest House. It is one of many newly sprung up Bandung Guest Houses. Apparently the Saskava Guest House has been equipped with Emergency Lights, this marvelous gadget is simply turned on as it detects an outage automatically.

As soon as we get back home we are in a hunt of such small 16 LED lights with dimension that fits right into our palm size. The first place to search is obviously those large stores such as the huge Hyper mart, the Carrefour the largest European conglomerate store; then, the house appliances specialist Ace Hardware.

Surely they must have this simple looking gadget, but alas they only offer much bigger products that is a bit cumbersome to carry around. Furthermore the built materials are also fragile looking with mostly clumsy switches, and worst if we have to equip every room in the house the cost is reaching beyond our budget.

Finally after a week of frantic search we find what we are looking for, the 16 LED Emergency Lights gadget at an affordable price too. At a quarter of what they cost at those convenient large stores, it features an 8 operating hours as the light source; plenty of time to most 2 hours period of the typical outage occurrences.

It now provides adequate lighting for those emergency moments, and the beauty is the gadget has a direct ac plug at its back. It recharges by simply plugging in, no hassle with ac cords, once in recharging mode a small red indicator lights on. It is ready, no more panicking kids!

Turtle Sanctuary

Turtle Sanctuary at Serangan Island is a popular tourist attracting island located just 250 metres off the South East coast of Bali, in fact it is conveniently very close to the famous Sanur beachfront.  It is evidently also a home to Sea Temple or locally known Balinese as Pura Sakenan, a highly visited temple for the local religious people.

The 'Turtle Island as it is to many has been referring to, has various sizes of turtle which are kept in special pens, it is where the used to be endangered species is being protected. 

Kurma Asih, the 'turtle lovers' group has been conducting such noble conservation program, which supposedly aim to saving new turtle nests from predators including poachers. The group has successfully achieved progress that during the 2008 nesting season brought a record of one hundred turtle nests - containing nearly 10,000 eggs - to safety in the Turtle Sanctuary’s hatchery.

Today especially during the season there is an opportunity for tourist alike to release a baby turtle on the sand and watch her flapping, often with hesitate gesture and finally reach towards the sea for her maiden time. 

The conservation program was initiated by an International NGO in early 2000s, and by the time we were last visiting Bali in mid 2004, just a year after the infamous "Denpasar Tragedy Attack", there were some noticeable achievements being attained; not only dozens of turtles were saved but the Turtle Sanctuary were also able to provide some educative entertainments for our children.

We were flocking in a 52 seats Bus with not less than five todlers in a special family trip. It was indeed and still is the most favourite Kids Trend school holiday trip, a memorable family trip that these kids are still being talked about among themselves.

Kurma Asih has no longer received the aids, yet it has sustained the conservation program on itself up to these days! The endangered species is now up a notch as a protected species, no longer under natural threat.

Smoking is Good for Kids! What kind of parent do they have? Even a terrible heavily smoking active parent would not allow their own kids to inhale their own smoking let alone the kids smoking cigarette themselves. 

Well in some parts of corner these poor children does have a great tendency to smoke, particularly those the homeless one. Yet as recently we have learnt a one year toddler smokes at least two packs of cigarette a day! Yes, we all have heard such appalling behaviour from the news media. Fairly soon though the authority express a worrying concerns. Yet it was a NGO entity which has put its gear in action, by putting the poor toddler in a special rehabilitation “camp”. 

The kids has now under treatment to smoke less and eventually gets rid of the bad habit all together. He could not speak as yet, and whenever he craves for smoking he goes wild and cries. But the good news is this poor little toddler is recovering under the good professional medical experts.

Growing up for children in this very century is not as simple and wonderful as it used to be either. Gone is the day for kids to enjoy playing game that has high educative content, let alone the chance to play close to the nature! Thanks to most city municipals to allow developer building super structure mall instead of leaving the green lush park remains.

Also gone perhaps forever for most precious kids to play this old fashion bubble blow. It’s now the internet, facebook, online games, PS3, PSP and the list goes on and on,,,,...

And worst the good parents are all helpless to distract their kids from the promotion which most media broadcast endlessly, the things which strongly evoke the youngest kid’s dream of owning toys and the like! It’s today’s Kids Trend we all have to love and hate.

Guitar Lesson may have been epidemic to some youngsters. Apparently a growing number of teenagers are hooked on to the LifeStyle of a particular famous Rock Star Celebrity. To learn Guitar by attending a Guitar Lesson as an after school activity in order to mimics the super star's action on stage.

Take a look at our eldest son as he is focusing hard as one of the member of Avenged Sevenfold group. This as it would seem as often to happen to any teen and it is not a strange phenomena at all to our current Kids Trend. On certain occasions his study work time is filled in by a Guitar Lesson on his own instead of attempting the school home work that supposed to be done.

Most celebrity earn their stardom through lots of hardship in years, and perhaps countless blood and tears on their own account, which may involve to some degree parental's involvement as well. What's your kids behavior toward their hobby? Do you fully support any hobby interests from your Kids? It is very natural to have an opposite views, considering such turbulence and timid stages the Kids are going through nowadays.

We are honestly thinking that he is more capable in his mathematics rather than as yet emerging musical talents from him within.

Kids Trend Holiday

Onto the third day of our recent Bandung trip we finally decided to distract kid-trend’s adamant addiction to modern gadgets, and bring them to Bandung’s own natural beauty for a bit of muscle shake down. We had thought of returning back to Lembang’s little Farm then head off for the nearby volcanoes: Tangkuban Perahu craters. Since most us of had been there we look at other place which is similar in nature, the “Kawah Putih” or “White Crater” is a good option. One of our nephews has expressed his interest to ride on All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) up in Lembang, fortunately Kawah Putih has such facility also.

Bandung a beautiful city resort in West Java has plenty of options for family leisure activities, yet the most important mission on this trip is to break our kids’ habit off their gaming gadgets. It has been increasingly habitual for the kids of today spending much of their leisure time on such gadgetry, as the consequence they have now less and less physical activities. Much less of kids trend than any other generation has!

This family trip has been specially requested by one of our nephew ever since she learnt that we have made frequent trips to our beloved Bandung city. The fact that she lives in Batam Island makes all of us to make the most to ascertain her request fulfillment. The recent school holiday was the perfect gift for her birthday coincided with the trip. Bandung is a well known for its domestic tourist’s attractions in particular for the Jakartan as one of hugely popular holiday destinations: in fact it is the hot trend of urban trips.

Through out the whole trip kids seemed to enjoy themselves; the fresh barbequed corn and stone throwing at “White Crater”; later at the end of the crater trip they would enjoy working out above ATV for a cross country lap. It was quite a hard effort for the parent’s part to distract such adamant addiction to modern gadgets. Does your kid have similar game addiction as ours? Young generation these days are vulnerable to their environment's influences. The seducing TV commercial and any other media are widely exposed to this easily simulated generation. Furthermore their school's peer is a simple walking model, when one gets to school in the new Adidas others would follow. Trendy fashionably wear spread out rapidly in our very own education institutional system.

For the past month our youngest 11 years old kid had been bugging us for a pair of Crocs. Fortunately his birthday will be exactly a week from now, and apparently his mother could not resist his constant bugging. Well bugging no more! Early this week there was already a new pair of Crocs Kids Cayman laying just next to his room.

His cousin has already worn one, and so his close buddy then a few of his peer. What gives its popularity? I was once scrambling for a sleeper, yet I stumble accidentally into his cousin's Crocs.
